Why is a faint orange haze left behind?
Because the stamp was light projected onto film, it bleeds slightly into the surrounding emulsion. Brushing only the digits leaves that halo. Cover a margin around the whole stamp and it clears.
Does this change the photo's date information?
No. This edits pixels only. Any EXIF capture date in the file is untouched, which is usually what you want — the visible stamp goes, the underlying record of when the photo was taken stays.
What if the stamp sits over a person or a face?
That is the hard case. The model reconstructs something plausible rather than something true, so a stamp across a face can produce features that are subtly wrong. Over background it is reliable; over a face, inspect the result closely.
Will it work on a low-resolution scan?
Better than you might expect, though the tool has less to work with. If you still have the print, rescanning at higher resolution before erasing gives a noticeably cleaner fill.
